Putting it on your phone

It gets an icon on your home screen and opens without the browser around it.

On an iPhone this is the step that makes notifications possible at all. Apple only lets a site send them once it is on your home screen, so if you turned notifications on and nothing ever arrived, this is why.

iPhone

  1. Open this site in Safari.
  2. Tap the three dots to the right of the address bar, then tap Share.
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Make sure Open as Web App is turned on. This is the part that matters.
  5. Tap Add.

Android

  1. Open this site in Chrome.
  2. Tap the three dots at the top right.
  3. Tap the install item. Chrome has called it Install, Add to Home screen, and Install and create shortcut across versions; it is the one with an install or add icon.
  4. Confirm.

Chrome sometimes offers to install it before you get there. That prompt does the same thing. On Android none of this is required, since notifications work either way; the icon just saves you finding the tab.

Tapping the new icon opens the site straight to your own page, the one with the check-in card and your log on it.
